AN ONGOING TASK OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE

Buried in the Archives in www.georgeeconomics.com is an article first written during the Obama Administration and updated leading into the 2020 Presidential election titled “The Fallacy of Socialism”. It offers a brief history of the Communist movement and spells out the reasons why Communism is doomed to fail and why the utopia peddled by the far-left politicians never evolves out of their collectivist promise of free stuff that is not free. One of the main points made is that the failure of communism is an economic lesson that must be constantly retaught. The warning issued by this article has augmented meaning at the present time because of the upcoming mayoral election in New York City where an avowed communist is poised to win the election handily. The leadership of the Democrat Party has steadily abandoned any remnants of its politically centrist past over the past four decades. This leadership is now bullied and dictated to by its far-left Marxist base. This base hides behind the meaningless moniker democratic socialism.

It is unfortunate that so much of the voting population in many areas of the country are unaware of the economic consequences of their vote for politicians who market a utopian social structure that they cannot effectuate. The mayoral race is harbinger of a more serious threat than the run of the mill socialist effort to advance Marxism regardless of whether it is socialism or communism loaded with utopian promises. The one consistent characteristic of the present American Marxist movement is that it does pay homage to the tactics spelled out by Saul Alinsky in his “Rules for Radicals”, with a few caveats that differentiate it from the Marxist movement that existed during the time period of Saul Alinsky’s life in the twentieth century.  From the time of Karl Marx’s and Frederick Engels’ publication of the “The Communist Manifesto” in 1871 through the end of the twentieth century, there was little to no focus on religious matters. In fact, until recently there has been a strong anti-religious undertone to the American Communist movement where the proposed socialist/communist government would occupy center stage in society. Keep in mind that communism, in its orthodox form, is based on atheism and the rejection of religion.

The present-day American Marxist movement has incorporated a radical religious element that has been growing in a manner that should be concerning to the voting public. Examples of this are the known radical political and religious associations and statements made by a growing number of Democrat party members that are anti-law enforcement, infused with an underlying Anti-Semitic rhetoric based on radical religious, and racial hatred. Note that it is my position and an unspoken tenet of the free market that all anti-religious and anti-racial rhetoric of any nature against any ethnic group is unacceptable. It is the perverse nature of modern-day American Marxism to incorporate any function regardless of its merits that advances its cause, which is to replace the individual freedoms that are enshrined in the free market social structure with government control of production and services.  The mayoral race in New York City is a prime example of where the Democrat’s communist candidate, Zohran Mamdami (regardless of how he presents himself), promises a lot of free or near free goods and services, covering up the real cost of those goods and services and the historical failure rate of such endeavors. In the process he seems to have been able to sidestep the influence of radical Islamic sentiment over his carefully manicured public statements.

The intention is not to assess Mamdami’s personal beliefs, but rather to observe the growing influence of religious perspectives within the American Marxist movement. In past articles I noted, based on their public statements and voting patterns, that the far-left Christian politicians are more left than Christian, the far-left Jewish politicians are more left than Jewish and the far-left atheist has no such religious conflict, which has allowed them to coalesce in a collective matter to advance their radical agenda. Given the intensity of the far-left anti-Semitic activity observed on college campuses over the last few years, supported by Democrat politicians, I find it hard to believe that the American Marxism movement will not have to deal with religious conflicts within its own ranks over time. It is going to be interesting to see what the American Marxist movement will morph into, to maintain its direction and intensity.
